David Leah and Jason Boyce from Inclusive Communication Essex (ICE) recently enjoyed afternoon tea with the Queen.
David, who works tirelessly to improve outcomes for some of Essex’s most vulnerable people, was voted Employee of the Year in 2016. The invitation to attend the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace was a celebration of this outstanding achievement. He said, “It was amazing to receive the Employee of the Year Award, but now I am doubly honoured to have been invited to such a prestigious occasion!”
Having negotiated strict Palace security, afternoon tea was served in the guests’ pavilion. The National Anthem announced the arrival of Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh who took their tea in the Royal Pavilion.
David and Jason were able to enjoy the Palace gardens and mingle with a variety of dignitaries, including politicians, police chiefs, diplomats and members of the Armed Forces.
Jason said, “David is an excellent ambassador for Essex County Council. He regularly goes above and beyond what is required of him and I am pleased to see his efforts recognised. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I was delighted to have been able to share this with David.”
