Summer Reading Challenge; Mythical Maze

Stories and characters from a range of children's books will come to life this summer, as part of Essex Libraries' Sensory Storytime events. Favourite stories will be told through interactive sessions which will stimulate all five senses - bringing the magic and wonder of stories alive for children of all ages and abilities.

Reading stories can be difficult for some children who have additional needs. These fun and exciting events are a great way to make stories and books more accessible to all children and will be led by volunteers who've been specially trained by the Preschool Specialist Teacher team.

They will use a range of inclusive story telling methods and specialist equipment to captivate children's imaginations and enable participation for children whatever their ability. There will also be a very special singing and signing session at Maldon Library on the 28^th.

All children attending will be supported to actively take part in the story time sessions regardless of difficulties with language and communication. They can collect stickers as they join in with stories, and will receive a gold medal for completing the challenge. 

Library staff will be there to help all children join in whatever their abilities, It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy stories and reading activities together.

The sensory story telling sessions will be taking place in 14 libraries across the county, throughout the school holidays as part of the Summer Reading Challenge and is free to join at all libraries and mobile libraries.

Chelmsford Library will also be holding their own very special session using their sensory wall, and interactive floor.
